Dear Scholarship Applicant:
Thank you for applying for a Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Scholarship. The award is named in honor of Daniel Palmer, Henry Austin, and Roscoe Parker, three deceased charter members of our chapter. These men dedicated much of their time and their efforts to the achievement of all students but of African American males in
particular.

Candidates must be African American males who are high school seniors in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. They must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.8 and must be seeking entrance to an accredited college or university.

Applicants are evaluated on the following criteria:

  • the combined score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
  • cumulative grade point average
  • financial need
  • written essay
  • references

The amount of the scholarship is at least one thousand dollars ($1,000), payable jointly to you and your college or university. Proof of enrollment must be provided before the award is made.

Attached is the application, which must be returned to me, Mr. Larry B. Johnson, at the address above by April 25, 2017. Do not forget to include an official high school transcript. Your references may mail their recommendations directly to the
fraternity, or they may give them to you to submit with your application. If they mail their letters directly to the fraternity, be sure to remind them about the due date.
